With Loungers and Cosy Club, Jake Bishop and co. have created two quirky and wildly successful brands. We helped give the venues a soundtrack that embodied the offbeat style of their founders.

The Brands

The Lounges, informal neighbourhood café / bars, open all day every day. A home from home where families, friends, and local residents can come for coffee, a drink or something to eat in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Cosy Clubs, more often than not housed in unusual historical buildings, focus on a still casual but more premium bistro-style of dining. Eccentric, playful yet family-friendly serving up somewhere special with a hint of nostalgia.

The Challenge

Jake and his team had strong ideas about their sound and how it should transition throughout the day. They needed each strand to have its own distinct style but the overall emphasis was meeting the core brand ideals.

For Cosy Club, this was to convey the offbeat, playful side of a concept that reflected the founders’ eclectic tastes without becoming so way out that it intimidated the customer base.

The music had to be familiar but unpredictable, creating an atmosphere that would encourage repeat visits. “Think a private members club meets village hall meets cricket pavilion.” was our brief.

Loungers required a more contemporary feel with a music profile that appealed more to the high street and a younger customer base whilst still reflecting the decor and homely feel of the venues.

Our Solution

Quality music - that wasn't “too cool for school” was the approach we took and we worked collaboratively to hone the sound for each brand.

We immersed ourselves in all aspect of Loungers / Cosy Culture creating playlists for their diverse events from Beaujolais Day to Blitz parties.

We ensured each trading period had its own unambiguous feel, championing local artists and incorporating “kick out” tongue-in-cheek anthems.

With every track, we were mindful of how it would reflect the Loungers ethos and when in doubt Jake and Co. always gave us valuable feedback.

The Outcome

We love working with a team that has such a strong sense of identity and updating and evolving their playlists is always a joy.

Feedback from customers has been amazing and amongst the tweets of “I love this song” we’ve received some of our biggest compliments.

Secret DJ is a big pull with both brands and as the word spreads across the country we see more and more customers getting involved.
